About Hampshire

Hampshire (abbr. Hants) is a county on the south coast of England in the United Kingdom. The county borders (clockwise from West), Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Surrey and West Sussex. The county has an area of 1,455 square miles (3,769 km²) and at its widest points is approximately 55 miles (90 km) east-west and 40 miles (65 km) north-south. The county town is Winchester situated at 51°03′35″N, 1°18′36″W. The 2001 census gave the population of the administrative county as 1.24 million; the ceremonial county also includes the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton, which are administratively independent, and has a total population of 1.6 million.

Hampshire is a popular holiday area, with tourist attractions including its many seaside resorts, the maritime area in Portsmouth, and the motor museum at Beaulieu. The New Forest National Park lies within the borders, as does a large area of the South Downs, which is also scheduled to become a National Park. Hampshire has a long maritime history and two of England's largest ports lie on its coast. The county is famed as home of the writers Jane Austen and Charles Dickens.

Broadlands

Broadlands

THE HOME OF LORD MOUNTBATTEN. Broadlands has been a part of English history for centuries. Home to statesmen and men of action. Host to royalty and the brilliant, powerful and celebrated of their time. Today Broadlands remains one of England's most delightful country homes, a gem of mid-Georgian beauty. The elegant Palladian house and its lovely landscaped setting beside the River Test are a tribute to the genius of Lancelot 'Capability' Brown. The Mountbatten Exhibition; An impressive sixty years studded with brilliant achievements. His naval inventions and his daring exploits on the Kelly have become part of the Mountbatten legacy. As last Viceroy of India and first Governor General he displayed his ability to achieve what others thought to be impossible in diplomacy.

The check-in area is directly inside the terminal building. All flight numbers and destinations are displayed on the monitors at the entrance to the airport, indicating which desk to check in at. Keep an eye on the television monitors listing flight departures for your destination, boarding time and gate number. Boarding usually begins around 45 minutes before departure. Most restaurants and bars provide high chairs and children's menus. Aura catering provides kids fun packs with every child’s meal purchased. There is a babycare room located in the main concourse, with private feeding cubicle and bottle warmer. There is also a baby changing unit after security in the departure lounge toilets.
